It’s Poetry Month!

Poetry Month is here! We are excited because Poetry Month for us means a time to celebrate many things. We have been in the publishing game for 11 years now. It has been a time of highs and lows but we have decided to push on.

 Poetry Matters Celebration, this is an annual contest we started 13 years ago. It has grown so must in the last few years. To summarize where we are now:

We celebrate five years of recognition of National Poetry Month by Columbia County Commissioners in 2008.

A new anthology in the works-Poetry Diversified.  GRU intern, Ali Fry is working away on layout and cover design with local company, New Fire.

Year thirteen. We have received entries from 30 states and 5 countries. This year’s countries include: Australia, India, Canada, Wales and U.S. Thanks to all who submitted entries.

Winners will be announced at Open Mic program at Augusta Richmond County Library on April 19th between 6:30-9:00. Come out and read or share in reading by participating poets. N.Y. Poet Pauline Findlay will be on hand. Lady Vee Spoken Word Poet will be our host. For more on the contest check out Poetry Matters  or to see Lady Vee perform .
We have a new project we have added World Book Night is a project we added last year. We gave away Maya Angelo’s I know why the Caged Bird Sings. This year we collaborate with Columbia County Library on April 23. The title we will give away, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.  Hopefully our poetry choice will be honored next year.
